Aside from the whole grass is greener thing, there is something else at work here…
India had a caste system for a long time, which meant your life chances were dictated by the “caste” you were born into. One of the indications of caste was skin colour…the lighter, the better. Lighter skin colour indicates a higher status in India, even though the caste system is starting to fade. Its mostly Indian people that do this to be honest, I’ve never heard of black people doing it, not sure about Arabs.
I cant imagine what crazy **** this stuff does to your skin…it must either contain bleach or not actually work. I wouldnt be putting bleach on my skin!

Apart me feels bad for those type of people, because I know we have been bombarded all our lives with images of white skin as beautiful (they even call it fair, instead of white, when fair intially just meant beautiful- not white)
But the other part of me feels like, that’s on them…they need to wake up and love the skin their in- take care of it, make it glow. Set a new example- be the new standard and stop letting media tell you what is pretty and what is not.
some colored races are insecure about their color about of how other people and how they look at them of how they feel cause you can have a brother or sister of friend that gets more attention then you don and they are lighter skin colored than you are so you can become uncomfortable with your self .

Why do white and asian people tan?
Same reason.
Too white and too dark are unacceptable in today’s idea of ideal beauty- anything other than golden light brown (i.e. the typical latin coloring) is for the most part seen as unattractive.
Same reason White people tan – to achieve the ‘golden toned’ impossible standard of beauty set by the media.
For dark that means getting lighter and for pale that means getting darker.
Because they’re convinced they will have a better quality of life, in terms of how people treat them, if they conform to the European standard of beauty.
for the same reason whites use tanning lotions and go to tanning salons, you sorry drool. You will never be smart, sorry, just get over it.
All that commercial proved is that dark skinned people are discriminated against. I don’t see why that makes you feel proud.

I suppose the same reason white people tan. They want to look different. And it is no different than white people tanning so you get over it.
